I Replaced Mailchimp, ClickFunnels, and Teachable With One Free Tool. Three Months In, I Haven't Looked Back.

Here's what happened. I was paying $287/month across four platforms that didn't talk to each other. Mailchimp for emails ($75). ClickFunnels for funnels ($147). Teachable for my course ($59). Plus a Zapier plan to glue it all together. One afternoon, a friend in a Slack group dropped a Systeme.io link. "Just try the free plan," she said.

That was 90 days ago. I've since cancelled every single one of those subscriptions.

I won't pretend it's flawless. It's not. But for what most solopreneurs actually need? It's absurdly good for free.

So you create an account. No credit card prompt — refreshing. You land on a dashboard that's... simple. Almost suspiciously simple.

I clicked around for 10 minutes expecting to hit a paywall or a "upgrade to unlock" popup. Nothing. The email tool was there. The funnel builder was there. The course hosting was there.

I'm not gonna list every feature. Here's what I actually use daily:

Email campaigns. You build sequences visually — drag blocks, set delays, add conditions. It's not ConvertKit-level sophisticated for tagging, but for 90% of use cases? More than enough. I send a weekly newsletter and a 5-email onboarding sequence. Both run fine.

Sales funnels. The drag-and-drop builder has about 40 templates. Some look dated. But the one I picked for my lead magnet funnel converted at 34% on cold traffic — better than my old ClickFunnels page (which sat at 28%). The built-in A/B testing is basic but functional.

Course hosting. I moved my "Freelance Pricing Masterclass" over in about 2 hours. Drip content works. Student progress tracking works. It doesn't have Teachable's fancy completion certificates, but honestly — nobody ever mentioned those certificates to me.

Automation workflows. Visual builder. "When someone buys X, tag them Y, send email Z." Not Zapier-level flexibility, but you don't need Zapier anymore for the basics.

Checkout & payments. Stripe and PayPal. One-click upsells after purchase. Order bumps on the checkout page. Works.

Blog/website. It exists. It's basic. If you need a serious content site, you'll want WordPress. For a simple "about me" page or a blog with 10 posts? Fine.

I'm not here to sell you fairy tales. Systeme.io has real limitations:

The editor feels clunky. Drag-and-drop, yes. Smooth and intuitive? Eh. Moving blocks around sometimes requires three clicks where Elementor needs one. You get used to it. But the first hour is frustrating.

Email deliverability isn't best-in-class. I ran a test batch to 500 Gmail addresses. 89% hit the primary inbox. That's decent — not great. Mailchimp was hitting 94% for me. For most people this won't matter. If you're sending 50K+ emails, consider a dedicated ESP.

No native webinar tool on the free plan. The Webinar plan ($47/mo) adds it. If webinars are your thing, factor that in.

Template designs are... 2021. Functional, not beautiful. I spent an extra hour customising my funnel to not look like a template. If design matters to your brand, budget time for tweaking.

No phone support. Email and chat only. Response time was 4-6 hours in my experience. Not terrible, not instant.

It's great if you're:

• A solopreneur or small team running an online business
• Tired of paying for 4+ tools that barely integrate
• Launching your first course, funnel, or email list
• Budget-conscious (because who isn't?)

Look elsewhere if you:

• Need enterprise-grade email deliverability for 100K+ lists
• Want pixel-perfect design control (you'd want Webflow or WordPress + Elementor)
• Rely heavily on webinars and don't want to pay $47/mo
• Need deep CRM features — Systeme.io isn't HubSpot

That's not shade. It's scope. Systeme.io does 80% of what most online entrepreneurs need. The question is whether you're in that 80%.

Common praise: simplicity, cost savings, responsive support. Common complaints: limited design flexibility, occasional editor bugs.

Systeme.io isn't the most powerful tool in any single category. It's not the best email platform. Not the best funnel builder. Not the best course host.

But it's good enough at all of them. And it's free.

For solopreneurs and small teams, that combination is hard to beat. I save $310/month and my workflow is simpler — fewer logins, fewer integration headaches, fewer invoices.

Three months in, I don't miss any of the tools I cancelled.
